ASSISTANT PRODUCT MANAGER

Summary of Position:

 

Responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of a specified product line.  As part of a cross-functional team, the Assistant Product Manager (APM) will interface with sourcing, engineering, design, marketing, sales, finance and operations as needed to help successfully deliver new products to market and maintain current product assortment.

 

Job Duties:

 

Assists in overall management of assigned product category.

 

  • Coordinates brand activities related to launch and maintenance of the product line (packaging die lines, artwork, copy writing, collateral materials, website maintenance, sales bulletins, photography samples, etc.)
  • Assists in launch of seasonal sales kits and adjusts presentations, price lists, line rationale, etc., as needed throughout the year.
  • Enters marketing & product management information into company operating system in accurate and timely fashion, including the assignment of UPC and entering data into operating system.
  • Maintains competition surveillance, including but not limited to distribution trends, market pricing, product design and features, etc.
  • Manages customer specific direct import requirements related to packaging, product testing, factory audit activities, etc. and coordinates with operations group and factories as needed to expediate processes.
  • Coordinates with operations group for updates / maintenance of product costing in operating system.
  • Understands financial reporting information and able to formulate recommendations / comments as it relates to the profitablity of the category.
  • Monitors and reports on project timelines and executes project specific tasks to ensure product arrives on time.
  • Assists in developing strategic and tactical new product plans that are aligned with business objectives.
  • Responds to customer specific and/or product related requests from Sales department in a timely manner.
  • Conducts consumer service training for new products as well as responding to all customer/consumer service inquiries as needed.

 

Assists Senior Product Manager in developing strategic and effective new product marketing programs.

 

  • Assists with the development of long and short run strategic marketing plans.
  • Assists in the implementation of approved plans and strategies for new products.
  • Assists in conducting market research and developing marketing strategies to complement and support Company goals and strategic objectives.
  • Assists management with the development and implementation of training, promotion and advertising programs that further marketing objectives.
  • Assists Product Marketing Team and Brand Directors with the recommendation and implementation of product marketing strategies including copy writing, proofreading, and overall over site of packaging and on product (or in carton) marketing materials.

 

Assumes responsibility for tracking consumer and customer feedback as it relates to quality and functionality of all products in assigned product category.

 

  • Monitors feedback from consumer service, web sites, consumer reviews, internal purchased data sources, etc to identify and assist to resolve product issues.
  • Provides support in the coordination of meetings with consumer service, engineering, quality, product, manufacturing teams as issues are presented to ensure organizational visibility to such issues.
  • Provides consumer feedback to the appropriate parties for continuous product improvement.
  • Monitors sku level defective returns detail to enable appropriate quality actions and supplier accountability.

 

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and coordination with employees, management, customers, marketing professionals, and external business contacts.

 

  • Establishes and implements effective internal and external communication.
  • Ensures that  requests and questions are promptly, appropriately, and courteously      addressed.

Job Duties:

 

Responsible for the functional design and development of quality new products within budget, timeline and quality standards. 

 

  • Provides leadership to Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and outside suppliers to keep projects progressing against budget and timeline requirements.
  • Supports the design and computer modeling needs to develop bills of materials and perform cost estimating.
  • Directly involved in the manufacturing and quality control processes of foreign and domestic suppliers.

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from accredited college.
  • 5+ years electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong background / understanding of IP networking communications.
  • Experience with PCB design / IoT integration and development.
  • Experience with PCB design layout software (Eagle CAD (preferred) / Altium / equivalent).
  • Experience in JavaScript / C / C+ / C# / WPF / Python or similar programming capabilities.

MODEL MAKER

Summary of Position:

 

The Model Makers of the Model Shop are tasked with the creation of photorealistic samples and engineering prototypes representing the newest innovations of the company for use in Sales presentations, Marketing materials and New Product Development prototypes. They are further tasked with the maintenance of the suite of 3D printers maximizing efficiency in the production of component parts.

 

To be effective Model Makers will need to learn, understand and employ several modelling and assembly techniques including: sanding, painting, chroming, soldering and molding. While most of the work will be hands on, Model Makers must be able to function in a team environment and communicate effectively across several functions such as Engineering, R&D, Marketing and Product Management. At times, the Model Shop will resemble a small manufacturing operation as several identical models will need to be made to support Sales efforts.

 

Job Duties:

 

Model Making and Model Shop

 

  • Develop prototype sample products made for use as sales samples that are of photographic quality and can be utilized in product literature and press releases.
  • Support the development of conceptual models and prototype sample products for use by product development team in testing, analysis and proof concept.
  • Complete product samples by painting and or modifying 3D printed assets or premanufactured components.
  • Provide feedback to product developers with comments or ideas that will help ensure that the product design or prototype construction meets the highest quality standards.
  • Become educated on and assumes responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the suite of 3D printers and other tools necessary for sample completion.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and techniques used in the completion of new products samples.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.

Requirements:

 

  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, prototype development and/or paint shop where teamwork is a priority. Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Relevant experience is a “maker space” will be considered.
  • Well organized with experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team structure.
  • Ability to work independently on a given task with limited oversight or supervision.
  • Attention to detail and a quality orientation.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of power equipment such as a drill press, disc sander, band saw, lathe, etc.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools.
  • Basic PC computing skills, including MS Office.
  • Experience with Solidworks a big plus.
  • Sedentary and manual labor work. Exerts up to 25 lbs. of force frequently and may exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally.
  • Must be able to climb 19 stairs frequently.
