Summary of Position:


Responsible for safety and compliance engineering activities for all product lines. Assist design Engineers with certification BOMs and troubleshooting identified problems for products to assure components are acceptable to regulatory standards for countries where product will be sold. Review and interpretation of regulatory standards requirements and notifying appropriate personnel of changes and how/if it will impact products.  Responsible to ensure products’ materials and components individual certification listings are kept current. Lead discussions with agencies about disagreements with interpretation of standards. Support compliance team with management of chemical non-compliance issues with suppliers.


Job Duties:


Assists in assuring that all products have been evaluated and tested for compliance with all applicable US and international codes and standards and that all safety and regulatory issues have been reviewed and approved.


Assist Compliance Manager as needed for regulatory compliance related activities.


Product Safety, Chemical, and other related Standards and Reliability:

  • Ensure that all products have been tested and evaluated for reliability, that they comply with all applicable US and international codes and standards, and that all safety concerns, and reliability issues have been reviewed and approved.
  • Periodic evaluation of products manufactured for Vornado ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Ensure listed components have valid certification listings on an annual basis.
  • Complete review of certification BOMs to product construction and factory system BOMs at least annually.
  • Work with design Lab on different types of testing as required in order to support compliance activities.
  • Ensure UL and/or international standards’ testing of new products and components, as well as continuous improvement changes to existing products, is done to assure regulatory compliance and verify that particular components can be used in Vornado products.
  • If there are any updates to regulatory standards, then responsible to notify related departments and personnel at Vornado and ensure products are tested and reviewed against the certification updates to assure compliance. This pertains to both products built in USA and overseas.



Product Development and Continuous Improvement:

  • Participates with Design, Marketing, Compliance, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Sales as needed in product development and continuous improvement management to assure highest product quality designs while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.


Read, research, interpret and implement applicable safety and compliance regulations for Vornado consumer products.


Responsible for effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with company personnel,  external clients, customers, contractors, and officials.


Responsible for related duties as required or assigned.





  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Five years of compliance related experience. At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards requirements for domestic and international consumer appliances and management thereof.
  • Knowledge of chemical regulatory compliance requirements and management thereof.
  • Knowledge of various domestic and foreign manufacturing disciplines.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical design of consumer appliances is desirable.
  • Strong experience in record stewardship for internal and external audit purposes.
  • Ideal candidate will possess regulatory and compliance experience in consumer product or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing the certification process of consumer products, including experience with IEC, UL/ETL, CE, CCC, BSMI, etc, is desirable.

Summary of Position:


Responsible for management of the Engineering Department including participation in quality assurance and regulatory compliance initiatives.  Responsible for overseeing transition of product development efforts between R&D and Engineering departments. Responsible for product development, product improvements, developing and maintaining schedules and budgets, product cost estimates and incorporating emerging technologies into new and existing products. Responsible for assessing and implementing process improvements within the Engineering Department. Responsible for coordinating the activities of overseas engineering resources.

Summary of Position:


Responsible for handling inbound/outbound Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Conducts testing, audit, handles relevant documents, and networking with partners.  Works closely with 3rd Party ERP provider and customers to solve a range of problems or complete the set-up of new customers or document types. Responsible for insuring the EDI program is working as intended.  This position does not require the need to build or code the EDI transaction to complete EDI mapping, although understanding what these functions are and how they flow between systems is beneficial to the role.


Conducts daily purchase order entry, invoicing, order maintenance and provides excellent customer service.  Assists customers with new orders and advises of status of orders in process.  Upon approval, provides accounts authorization for end of season returns.  Courteously and promptly resolves customer questions and problems or properly refers them to appropriate personnel.  Completes related records, reports, and documentation.  Performs miscellaneous sales reporting and clerical duties as required.


Job Duties:


Maintains smooth communications for all EDI transactions.


  • Conducts daily management of EDI tasks.
  • Monitors and provide resolution of EDI transactions, and identify opportunities for improvements.

  • Processes sample shipments to customers. Assists in coordination of product allocation when in short supply.

Summary of Position:


The Model Makers of the Model Shop are tasked with the creation of photorealistic samples and engineering prototypes representing the newest innovations of the company for use in Sales presentations, Marketing materials and New Product Development prototypes. They are further tasked with the maintenance of the suite of 3D printers maximizing efficiency in the production of component parts.


To be effective Model Makers will need to learn, understand and employ several modelling and assembly techniques including: sanding, painting, chroming, soldering and molding. While most of the work will be hands on, Model Makers must be able to function in a team environment and communicate effectively across several functions such as Engineering, R&D, Marketing and Product Management. At times, the Model Shop will resemble a small manufacturing operation as several identical models will need to be made to support Sales efforts.


Job Duties:


Model Making and Model Shop


  • Develop prototype sample products made for use as sales samples that are of photographic quality and can be utilized in product literature and press releases.
  • Support the development of conceptual models and prototype sample products for use by product development team in testing, analysis and proof concept.
  • Complete product samples by painting and or modifying 3D printed assets or premanufactured components.
  • Provide feedback to product developers with comments or ideas that will help ensure that the product design or prototype construction meets the highest quality standards.
  • Become educated on and assumes responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the suite of 3D printers and other tools necessary for sample completion.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and techniques used in the completion of new products samples.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.

  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, prototype development and/or paint shop where teamwork is a priority. Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
